On my recent trip to Vegas, I had the opportunity to dine at Wolfgang Puck’s steakhouse, Cut, in the Palazzo Hotel.
(You were thinking this was going to be about working out? You’re adorable).
I love a steakhouse. The good drinks, the luscious salads, the tricked-out sides. Not to mention the reason for being: the beautiful, tender loving steaks.
Cut was modern, stylish but with a softly lit dining room and lounge area. As we had a last-minute reservation, our party of 8 were seated at 3 tables in the lounge. Perfect for people-watching, not so great for 8-way conversations.
The menu was classic steakhouse in presentation: Starters, Steaks, family style sides, but decidedly refreshing in execution. I knew I was in for a good night when I wanted to order every single one of the Salads and Starters. Seriously.
While I drooled over the menu; we ordered a round of drinks. I stuck with my favorite; Prosecco; but there was definitely a few martinis abounding as well.
After much perusal, I ordered the Early Harvest White Corn, Arugula, Cherry Tomatoes, French Feta, Goat Yogurt “Tzatziki” for my starter. Sweet baby corn, I LOVED this. The snap to the roasted corn, the creamy yogurt sauce, the tangy feta all tied together with the slightly sweet cherry tomatoes. So ridiculously good. Incidentally, this has now put me on a Corn & Tomato obsession (spoiler alert for another post).
On to the main event. Like most steak houses; we were encouraged to order individual steaks and a few sides to share. Naturally, I was instrumental in the Sides decisions; I do not leave steakhouse sides to chance (or other people).
Oh hey dinner….Cavatappi Pasta “Mac & Cheese,” Québec Cheddar
U.S.D.A. PRIME, Illinois Corn Fed, Aged 21 Days Petit Cut Filet Mignon 8 Oz*
Fresh Summer Roasted Corn
Tableside, we were served small ramekins of sauces: House Made Steak Sauce, Argentinean Chimichurri, Armagnac & Green Peppercorn & Creamy Horseradish
Dinner was perfection. My petite filet (that I shared with my Dad) arrived with caramelized mushrooms and a perfect medium-rare center. I added a few dots of creamy horseradish and this was everything good about enjoying marshmallow-tender beef.
The macaroni and cheese was creamy, sharp with the perfect amount of bite in the pasta. Since I am now corn-obsessed, I loved the slightly sweet, extra crunchy roasted corn that we had also ordered.
A round of Tempura Fried Onion Rings went around the table as well. Light, not greasy way, way too easy devour.Happily in a meat-marshmallow coma; we all declined dessert. They must have sensed that a meal is not finished without a sweet, so they brought some sweet bites with our bill.Happy.
A beautiful steak, creative sides and a comfortable dining area; this steakhouse absolutely makes the Cut. (I could not resist).
